How to file an RTI for delayed passport?

My passport application has been pending for 4 months. The passport office is not responding. Can I file RTI to know the status?

Adv. Sanjay Dubey

Yes, you can file an RTI under Section 6 of the RTI Act, 2005 directly to the CPIO of your Regional Passport Office. Mention your application number and request the current status and any observations. The PIO must respond within 30 days. If no response, file a First Appeal immediately.

Is an e-agreement (signed on WhatsApp) legally valid for property purchase?

We signed a scanned copy of a sale agreement and shared it on WhatsApp. Neither party got it registered. Is this binding?

Adv. Rohan Mehta

An unregistered agreement for sale is not valid for enforcement of immovable property transfer under Section 17, Registration Act. However, it may still be relevant evidence in equity. The safer course is to register the agreement at the Sub-Registrar office. A WhatsApp-shared document can be produced as secondary evidence with proper authentication.
